What a Wonderful World

I thought by now I should share a little bit more about my personal self. My likes and dislikes (well not dislikes, I wouldn't want strangers with googley eyes knowing what ticks me off...yes, I assume you all have googley eyes). I have a love of very very specific things within life. The list of my inanimate and animate loves is endless luckily for me, but here are five things I particularly love today. Perhaps I will share more later, or perhaps not. You'll never know, unless of course you see me post another blog entry like this. In the event of that situation, then you will most certainly know. Or maybe not. Who knows? Don't ask me.

1. Tikis that yell at you (be it joyous or outrage).

2. Kittens that play charades.

3. Men who wear eyeglasses (because I assume that are all nerds like me).

4. Flowers that openly express their emotions. (Like here, this one is sad.)

5. Grandmothers that still know how to party. Smoke up Grandma Bee.

Wishful Thinking

So I haven't been able to post much lately, because I have been unable to obtain any pictures. My friend/photographer hasn't been available lately, so to keep my blog alive here is a wishlist of just a tidbit of the items off of the ModCloth site that I someday would love to own. Surely, most of you are familiar with ModCloth, because I've noticed many of their pieces on several of the blogs I follow. If not, however, ModCloth is this amazing online fashion store that has its own unique clothing and some vintage items thrown in the mix. They also sell incredible books and home decor. I wish I could style my home with all ModCloth items. Hat: I used to have a floppy hat similar to this, but my cat peed on it. Such a sad day. So I have been looking to replace it. I love this one for its stripes and awesomeness of its floppiness!

Vase: I am a sucker for handpicked flowers. I can't stand store bought ones (unless they are sunflowers, which I would cave into buying for myself at Whole Foods when I would buy my groceries). This vase is perfect for simple handpicked flowers out of a beautiful field (which there aren't enough of within my living vicinity).

Books: I have seen the Indie Rock Coloring Book in stores before, and it is truly amazing. Some of my most favorite artist are featured within the pages of this interesting little bit o' fun. And I have already read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (as well as Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, which are both completely awesome), and I cannot wait to get my hands on Dawn of the Dreadfuls! A prequel (I believe) to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Swimwear: I have been looking for a great one piece for about a year now (since the red suit is high-waisted, it qualifies as a one piece for me), and have yet to buy one. Since I always give into buying clothing and not bathing suits, I've yet to buy any of ModCloth's swim articles. But I must say, they all have great retro vibes. What I would do for either of these two bathing suits are things I cannot post here (for they may be illegal).

Jacket: I have been on a never-ending search for great jackets, and ModCloth always has incredible ones. Right now, this is my favorite on off the whole site. The studded detailing and off center zipper are to die for.

Clothes, Clothes, Clothes, Hair!

If there is one thing I love as much as styling my daily wear, it's styling my hair every time it is due for a cut. Instead of trimming off the dead ends of my hair, I just change up the style each time. I've gone from long goldie locks to a jet black inverted bob to a redhead pixie, and everything in between. I am working on a modernized mullet right now, but it is going to need quite a bit of growing until it is ready.

When I feel I am due for a change atop my scalp, I browse the internet for appealing hairstyles. Today, I thought I'd share some of those with you. (For the record, I have a tendency to lean towards pixie haircuts, so there is quite a few pixies in this hairy compilation off of the worldwideweb.)

Posted last are the hairstyles of Tegan and Sara Quin. They are so gorgeous that I thought they deserved two photos! Not only the best celebrity hairstyles that I have seen, but possibly best period. I love them and their music. If you've never listened to them, I recommend hauling yourself to your local record store and buy their new album Sainthood for starters, and for finishers buy everything else. :)

Thank You, Darling

I'm growing to not like my elbows. I haven't been consciously aware of what they looked like since I was ten years old. Recently, however, I've noticed them in my pictures, and for reasons unknown to me I am displeased with their appearance. Nonetheless, I will not be covering them up with long sleeves. It's far too hot hear on the outskirts of Los Angeles to be wearing anything to my wrists.

This skirt was given to me by friend Ericka. I love her to death for it. I have only had it for one week, and have styled it a multitude of ways. Thank you Ericka! I hope you clean out your closet again soon.

Fashion Bravery

Nothing is more inspiring than radical fashions from radical people. The beautiful Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs has always worn eye-opening, daring, bold ensembles. Whether she's toned it down with simple blood red fingerless gloves, or gone all the way out there with a headdress made of fringe and hand prints, she looks fantabulous (fantastic or fabulous alone wouldn't cut it to describe her incredibility). Right on Karen O. You are an inspiration to music and fashion alike. Bravo!

Mommy's Clothes

The MOM! shorts. I love these things, and am planning on stocking up for summer. I believe these ones are actually a children's pair. At the goodwill, I was browsing through the shorts section and found these. They looked about my size and fit perfect when I put them on, so I was ecstatic. But I noticed that the tag said they were a size 14! In women's I typically wear a 0 or 2, so it is impossible for these to be that size. I must say, thought, it does make me happy that I can still fit into the same size i wore when I was 11. At the same time, it's unfortunate that I haven't grown. Regardless of the pros and cons, it makes for a great summer essential.

When Life Hands You Lemons...

Would you believe me if I told you that I bought this dress for a mere 5$??? I'm always searching for pretty sundresses for summer, but i rarely find any worth buying, and when I do they are normally out of my price range. So I was thrilled about the steal I got on this. By the way, notice the child in the background? That's my cousin Joseph. In between shots, he was throwing lemons at my wall, and I joined in with him. Ohhhh, cousins!

Marla

More often than not, I base what I wear on fictional characters I find in books, movies, fairytales, and my insanity of an imagination. As of late, I have tried to choose outfits that would make me feel like Marla Singer of Fightclub. She's beautiful, eccentric, skinny, and downright psychotic. I love you Marla Singer; so much so, that I have assumed you as one of my many personas.

Falsified Tats

People love to compliment me on my tattooed legs whenever I wear these tights. (Those people don't realize that they are only tights, not tats.) There are days when I let people go on believing that I have extraordinary tattoos on my legs, but more often than not I just laugh and they don't know why. Regardless, these are one of my favorite pieces out of my ocean of a wardrobe. I don't think I was ever more pleased with an accessory purchase (except the tranny shoes) than I was when I bought these.

The "Power Dress"

Today, because of my outfit choice, I was told that I looked like a singer and that I had my "power dress" on. Both compliments made me feel very confident, and make me wish I could wear the outfit piece for piece tomorrow. But I'm eager to photograph and style my "mom" shorts, so hopefully that is what I will dig out of the rubbish of my closet tomorrow. (I call it rubbish because it has slowly crept its way out of the closet and all over my floor *sigh*).

My apologies that the third picture is such poor quality. My friend's hand was shaking as he snapped the picture, and it came out awkward. But still a decent enough shot.
